Baby platypuses (platypi?)
Catastrophic

Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills. They knew the
bills weren't representative of their actual usage, and no matter
how they tried to conserve, the high bills continued. One day
Jim was sick and stayed home in bed trying to rest but kept
hearing water running downstairs. He finally got up to
investigate and stumbled onto the cause of his high water bills.
Apparently this was happening all day long when they were at
work. Knowing that few would believe him he taped a segment
of the "problem" for all to see.

Why the Norwegian Broadcasting Corp.
needs a copy editor

The visual blunder accompanied a segment about eye treatment
for senior citizens on Dagsrevyen, national broadcaster NRK's
evening news programme.
Twitter and Facebook users were near unanimous in their
appraisal that the national broadcaster had effectively been
PWN3D, or conquered, in a self-inflicted attack. (Dec 29, 2011)

holy. crap.

The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have
been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650
million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species
in the world.
The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over
50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been
swimming around for so long.

Accident-prone?
Why not try an in-ground trampoline
http://www.fennelandfern.co.uk/blog/2012/01/30/family-garden-gardening-with-children/
Just in case you want to try it yourself:
Where the edge of the trampoline meets the grass looks very tight.
We have found you need a gap to allow the air out from under the
trampoline as someone bounces on it. Otherwise it can be quite hard
to bounce as you put the air under pressure.
It's always something

Useful tattoo #1: The "to-do"
I’ve got a to-do list tattoo and I love it. It’s actually really
useful. I figure that as long as I’m getting tattoos, I might
as well have one that’s functional!

No, it's not the end of the world (yet)

This is a rare meteorological phenomenon called a skypunch.
When people see these, they think it's the end of the world.
Ice crystals form above the high-altitude cirro-cumulo-stratus
clouds, then fall downward, punching a hole in the cloud cover.
Freakishly weird!

The Brady Hunch

A well-circulated snapshot of Brady, shoulders slumped, seated
on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium, has turned into the latest
Internet fad with fans posting pictures of themselves in that
same downcast pose.
“If you’re a New England Patriots fan, you hate it. If you’re the
rest of America, you love it.”
While Tebowing was at least partially respectful to the popular
Broncos signal caller, Bradying is 100-percent roughing the quarterback.
